Before you begin:

This is a great custom for beginning customizers, as the next step after learning to boil and swap parts...

Step 1

Ruthlessly pop or chop off Luke's head. Using the knife and Dremel, hollow out the X-Wing helmet. Be careful... it's easy to screw this part up, or worse yet to cut yourself with the knife while trying to make big
cuts in a small area. Also watch out that the sanding bit on the Dremel doesn't work up too much heat and start melting the plastic.

Step 2

Boil 'n' pop off the Commander's head. The likeness of this figure is close enough to Wedge to be perfect for a Wedge vintage custom (since realistically few vintage figures looked too much like the characters they represent). Carve the Commander's head out of his bowling-ball helmet.

Step 3

Stick the Commander's head into Luke's helmet. Then stick the finished product onto Luke's X-Wing-suited body.

Step 4

Optional but recommended: Simply to distinguish the new Wedge from the old Luke, cut off the DSC's gloved hands. Measure the length of the gloves on Luke's arm, then cut it off there and glue the gloves on.

Step 5

Optional but recommended: Spruce up the figure and make it look unique by adding some various tiny details with paint, like buttons on the chestpiece, straps, etc. On mine the Rebel insignia on the helmet were faded so I redid it in red paint.
