Vintage Removable Helmet Darth Vader by Mark Dziak

Figure Supplies

  • - Vintage Darth Vader (body and lightsaber)
  • - Pilgrim Traitor from the WING COMMANDER line (head)
  • - Vintage Bib Fortuna (right hand)

Supplies and Tools

  • Paints:
    -Grey
    -Milky tan
    -Pink
    -Black
    -White
    -Red
  • X-acto knife
  • Sculpey
  • (If you choose to hand-craft the lightsaber, use a carved round toothpick and a tiny rubberband. This is very tough and I wouldn't suggest it to my worst enemy.)

Step 1

Cut off Vader's head and set it aside.

Step 2

Sculpey on a pronged helmet base onto the neck of Vader's body.

Step 3

Cut off the bald figure's head at about the mouth.

Step 4

Attach the bald head onto the above base.

Step 5

Cut off Vader's right hand, and replace with Bib Fortuna's right hand.

Step 6

Sculpey hideous scars onto the head. Use a photo to do them correctly. What I did was rub on a paper-thin layer of Sculpey and then poke it with a needle to make a ripped-up agitated flesh look.

Step 7

(Optional) If you have a lot more patience than me, or are insane, you can hollow out the helmet and attempt to fit it over the bald head.

Step 8

Bake to harden the Sculpey.

Step 9

Paint some brighter colors on Vader's chestpiece and shoulder armor. Paint the skin milky tan, and the scars pink. I drew sad little eyes with a fine marker. Be sure to paint the pronged base so that it looks like his head is sticking out of it.

Step 10

Make a vintage-style cape out of the black fabric and put it on him.

Step 11

Put the lightsaber in his right hand and the helmet at his feet, and there you have it!
