Hoth Speeder Bike by Jason Eaton

Figure Supplies

  • 1/12th scale motorcycle model kit
  • "Crowd-control Stormtrooper" pack
  • Styrene odds-and-ends
  • E-web Snowtrooper

Supplies and Tools

  • Das-pronto clay
  • Dremel
  • X-acto knife
  • Airbrush (optional)
  • Paints
Step 1

Assemble the tubular frame and engine, but with the following modifications: there will be no front fork, or rear wheel support, the exhaust will be mounted on the opposite end. (this is kinda hard, as each motorcycle model is different)... for this particular example (Hoth bike), flip the picture upside down. the pivot point for the front fork becomes the place for the display stand rod to slide into, the exhaust is mounted into the main fairing (ahead of the gas tank), the seat was slid up and forward and glued down, the snowtrooper assumes the seat where the rear tire would normally be located.

Step 2

Apply assorted kitbashed parts as needed: the bottom gun is from the crowd control stormtrooper, as are the control sticks. the seat itself is "Das pronto" air drying clay, the figure is from the web gun toy, with the skirt cut away and fabric substituted. Try to make the controls as "Star Wars-like" as possible. The top gun is actually one of the front fork pieces!

Step 3

Paint all subassemblies prior to assembly, and once everything is in place, sand the bike to bare plastic in parts, and the whole thing (including figure) should be judiciously drybrushed with a whitewash for that frosty look.
