"Ultimate Darth Vader"

  • STAR WARS meets AUSTIN POWERS
This recipe will be split up into two parts, since there are two figures. We'll start with the adult Vader first.
Ultimate Darth Vader -- Step 1

Boil and pop heads. Break apart COMMTech torso while still hot. Glue torso back together using RH Vader head, Gunner Station Vader legs, and Flashback Vader arms.

Ultimate Darth Vader -- Step 2

Dremel out the mask from the DS game Vader, enlarge dome to fit over mask on RH Vader head.

Ultimate Darth Vader -- Step 3

Cut saber hilt off of Commtech Vader leg, touch-up w/paint. Make belt hook and saber loop from paperclip.

Ultimate Darth Vader -- Step 4

Insert hook into waist and loop into hilt.

Ultimate Darth Vader -- Step 5

Voila! You can give another Vader lightsaber, and you're all set!

Mini-Vader

  • And now let's see how we make "Mini-Vader."
Mini-Vader -- Step 1

Boil and pop to seperate parts

Mini-Vader -- Step 2

Cut-off neck peg, from lower part of Death Star Escape game Vader head. Drill hole through lower part of head with a dremel. Cut away lower part of the second Vader head along the "jaw" line and then dremel out the dome until it fits over the Anakin head. Be extremely careful not to cut through the dome or face mask.

Mini-Vader -- Step 3

Cut-off lower portion of Anakin head to match lower helmet portion from step 2 above.

Mini-Vader -- Step 4

Insert head peg through hole and then superglue the head to the lower helmet half.

Mini-Vader -- Step 5

Cut hands off DSE game Vader arms. Drill a hole in the hands for a plastic dowel. Glue dowel in place. Cut hands off Anakin arms and drill hole in stump to accept plastic dowel in hands (do NOT glue!) I painted the arms black and then while the paint was still wet I put a layer of fine mesh netting around the arm and then painted a second layer of paint over the top. I used a blow-dryer to dry the paint trapping the mesh in place. I then cut-off the "shoulder pads" from the DSE game Vader, trimmed them down to fit, and superglued them to the Anakin arms. Put the hands in place and Voila' articulated hands!

Mini-Vader -- Step 6

Cut-off the Anakin boots. Cut-off the Vader boots to match the height of the Anakin boots. I then cut away the Vader "knee pads", trimmed them to fit and superglued them in place. I used the same paint and mesh netting trick on the legs.

Mini-Vader -- Step 7

Repeat the paint and netting trick for the back half of the torso. For the front I cut-off the plate from the DSE game Vader and superglued it to the Anakin torso and then painted black (sans netting).

Mini-Vader -- Step 8

I used an extra Flashback Vader belt and skirt cut down to size for the mini Vader. The belt is too thick to fit on the torso as is so I had to use my dremel to reduce the thickness. Cut away from the underneath area of the belt.

Mini-Vader -- Step 9

I also used an extra cape from Flashback Vader cut down to size for mini Vader as shown.

Mini-Vader -- Step 10

I cut 2 tiny pieces off a paperclip and superglued them in place for the breathing tubes. I also painted the area in front of his mouth silver so that he has the same look as the RH Vader.

Mini-Vader -- Step 11

Some additioanl shots of the finished figure with a cut to size lightsaber!!
