Before you begin:

The Empire was conducting an experiment in which they stuck Wookiees full of hardware to make them into ruthless killing machines. Chingachgook was the prototype, but before they could replace his brain with a computer chip, he was recued by Ardoyn Starrk, a rejected Jedi Knight. He gave him
a Life Debt, not unlike the one that Chewbacca gave to Han Solo.
