Figure Supplies

  • ROTS
    Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Pilot)
      -Body

Supplies and Tools

  • Fabric
    - Tan Or
      Off-White
  • Paints
    - White
    - Black
    - Burnt
      Umber

Step 1

Remove Obi-Wan’s head. It's a ball joint so it should just simply pop off.

Step 2

Paint the inner robes of the figure Burnt Umber. Be sure to get the collar around back.

Step 3

Paint hair and beard with a base coat of white paint.

Step 4

After white paint is dry, go over with black paint. I suggest a thin coat of black to give the hair an overall more gray look. (See ROTS Count Dooku for reference to layered color hair.) Using a very small brush and small amount of paint, paint in darker highlights. (Most noticeably on the temples, side burns, mustache, and “soul patch” area of the chin.) I used still shots from the Dune Sea scenes in ANH for reference. NOTE: I left the original eyebrows alone, because Alec Guinness had darker eyebrows in ANH, and I didn't want to mess with them. If you are more daring you might want to go for slightly more accurate eyebrows.

Step 5

While there are many methods of adding skirts to figures, this figure has a newer swivel torso, so I'm not entirely sure if the figure comes apart at the waist - I decided not to chance it. Leaving the Original skirt intact (you could, I suppose remove it with an X-acto blade, though make sure you still have the front flaps) I fashioned a skirt form a piece of off-white/tan cloth. Using superglue fix one end on the right side of the figure. (I just did this over top of the existing skirt.) Wrap the skirt around the figure clockwise and bring under the skirt flaps. With a bit of overlapping, fix the skirt to itself so that your seams are in the proper place. Some superglue on the backside of the skirt, applied to the original skirt, to hold it in place is also recommended. The lightsaber hilt fits into hole on Original Figure’s belt, be sure not to cover this up when placing on the new skirt..

Step 6

After all glue and paint is dry, place Kenobi’s head back on his body, and put cloak on.

You now have an ANH version of Ben Kenobi, well articulated, and complete with all the proper accessories, (The ROTS lightsaber is the same as his ANH version.) who is also capable of a seated pose.
