Step
1
Strip
the chrome (or gold) plating off the figure by drowning him
in bleach.
I used a tc-14, but it's recomended to use a c-3po because
the bleach ruins the electronics anyways! The bleach will
not remove the stomach paint with the wires on it, but that's
o.k., cause were going to paint it.
Step
2
Mask off stomach and eyes. I used blue painters tape cause
it doesnt bleed.
Step
3
Spray a very light coat of high gloss white (I used Testors
enamel) for the first coat. You will have to experiment on
how to prop him up so you dont leave "spots" from
proping him up.
Step
4
Spray
a full coat, being sure not to overspray (this causes runs.)
it's better to do several small coats to avoid it.
Step
5
When
dry, turn him over and move his joints so you can hit them
all. Don't worry, you can use a brush at the end to get missed
spots.
Step 6
When
you are satisfied with his finish, it's time to paint his
belly. Paint the wire area FLAT white. Paint the stomach wires
using some good reference photos.
Step
7
Peel
the eye tape. If your masking job went well, you wont need
to touch up. Or you can paint the eyes with gold, then the
black centers. (I dry brushed some gold on top of the eyes
to give them depth, and to look like they were "on".)
Step
8
Paint red dots on chest, let dry.
Step 9
Paint the mouth piece black, and blast mark on chest, let
dry.
Step 10
Paint (almost a dry brush) around blast mark with grey, and
let dry, Then paint light grey around that, to give it that
"shot" look.
