GI JOE SNAKE Repaint. The photos make it look splotchy with the rust paint, but I was going for an Ashley Wood weathering.

I like the effects. I don't like the gold/coppery armaments. IIRC, all the paint variants in the vintage line still had black ones. Plus, if tyou were going for really beat up, what about leaving the claw attatchment and going with a missing one on the other with some wires haning out?

I agree with Paul on this one. Your paint apps are excellent... I just don't care for the colors you chose (NOTE: I don't know who Ashley Wood is or if these colors are somehow significant, so I might be missing the point of what you were trying to do here).

And if Paul hadn't suggested the battle damaged arm, I would have! I've seen it done a couple of times with B.A.T.s, and it always looks cool. Happy customizing!

I did something a year or two ago because I didn't have a complete SNAKE. I sort of made my own attatchment, added some speaker wire. I was going for the missile or at least that arm got hit by something heavy and it blew out the weapon, making it all melted and deformed.

i think i was going for too many things on this guy. first, i didnt want "real world" paint and instead wanted to go with more of a pop-culture feel with the deep blue and the decals. then i wanted to weather it, and i think combining the 2 is where the piece got lost in translation.

i'm torn between going with all black attachments (i have all 4) or a bright color and similar weathering. so what color should i go with for the attachments? black or bright orange?

Ashley Wood created Pop Bot, illustrated a Metal Gear graphic novel, and is famous for his World War Robots. i was trying to emulate his weathering technique

I would keep the attatchments black, no matter what. I have no problem with the color of the armor or the effects or the decals. Don just has poo.gif-y pants about it, I don't know why, ask him dry.gif hypocrite.gif

And the current version, all black weaponry.

And I'm just noticing something about the eyes/viewport/optic sensors. I like the small line across. It shows it as being deactivated. That is a really cool detail no matter what you finally decide on, do keep that element.

Don does NOT have poo.gif -y pants about it. I just didn't know what he was going for with the color scheme.

Hey Soja, add a black wash to it and it should give you more of the effect you're looking for.

so i repainted the attachments--one black and one orange. i'm not really digging the orange, but now have to weather the black pieces.
