For the Felucia diorama I'm estimating I will need between 200 to 300 plastic mushrooms that are roughly 1/4" tall. I've searched the local craft/ hobby stores and have had no luck for anything premade. I'm looking for something that is somewhat organic looking (i.e. not symmetrical). I'm just about resigned to the fact I'll need to sculpt and cast to have what I want, but I'd still like to avoid that if possible. Is anyone aware of somewhere that sells something like this? It's a longshot but given how many people kitbash around here, it might pay off to ask.

tykrazen,
this might sound ridiculous, but do you think there would be a way to take "ACTUAL" mushrooms...and give them a coat of some sealant or something to "plasticize" them. ????

i'd say try a plastic bead and coat it in glue (something like elmer's). This way you can go crazy with their glitter and colored varieties as well as mix in food coloring to make your own colors. Plus the beat in the center do some interesting things too.

I finally figured it out last night while in the dollar store. I've used small round head screws as a base and put terra cotta clay over top to create the mushrooms. I've done a small test of 20 or so and was able to make them in about an hour. Once they are dry, I'll post pics. Thanks for all the suggestions.

As I said yesterday, I'm using round-headed screws covered with Terra Cotta clay for them. It took about an hour to make 20, so it should be feasible to make the 200+ I need for the full display. Here's pics of my sample pieces:

I'll paint them with florescent paints to felucia-ize them.

Then they go and tell you how they really do. As always, I like how they go to real world references and experts to get advice.
