offtopic.gif This is kind of a rant to get a load off my shoulders!

For the past three night, I sat and went through what fodder I have been collecting in hopes of finding pieces that would work together to create SOMETHING! I can't get past simple head swaps and it's pee peeing me off! For one, I am not well versed on much beyond the original trilogy. That is a MAJOR road block. I try to create fictional characters just to have something to work on...and nada! I have learned to hollow out heads with my dremel and have it as a tool now if I can think up something! I like Ithorians, so I'm trying that route. I like Gands, so I'm trying that route. Jawas...are just limited. I gather pieces and study them to see if I can possibly make them work together and always get "stuck". I look at all the cool ideas everyone else has had and get more frustrated. wallbash.gif

This is something that has happened to me over and over. My advice is don't force it - you'll just end up more frustrated. If you haven't read anything outside of the films, try picking up a couple of books. They are chock full of custom ideas. I highly recommend Shadows of the Empire, which tells the story of what happens between The Empire strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. After that, try the Heir to the Empire trilogy by Timothy Zahn. I would bet that almost everyone here would cite those books as being among their favorites. Whenever I am reading a lot, I usually have to start a "pending customs list" because I can't make them fast enough.

Just a suggestion...

I have read a few of the books over the years. It's been a while, though. I bought a trilogy of books last year and read onlt the first one, the second has been on my dresser waiting to be read. It is a good idea and I wanted to customize Han and Leia from the "Courtship" book. But that is too far a reach right now because I'll need either sculpting skills or a figure head that suits what I'm wanting. And even then I'll have to re-read the book before I start them. I read Wookiepedia too. That has a poo.gif load of ideas, and I've taken notes. But a common issue is not having parts that are appropriate for what I can picture in my freakish mind.

It will come to me eventually I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion DJN.

You do know you can use search and enter the parts you do have and see what others have come up with here?

Other than that, don't re-read books you have. Read a new one. Don't be afraid to look at another line instead for parts. It does take a bit more work, but you do get to learn or practice several skills.

I think we've all been in that type of lull Andy. Paul and Don, are right. Keeping a list is crucial, but you're never gonna get 'em done without inspiration. If you want some "already designed" ideas you could pick up some SW comics or graphic novels.

I do have a bunch of the comics from the 80's that I have thumbed through. I saw things that kind of grabbed my attention, but it was the dull imagination that blocked things. Getting something from my head or a picture to plastic shape is hard!! Do they make a Viagra-like pill for creativity? I'd pop one or three.

That's Legal, Safe, and Durable? Nope, but 3 letters do come to mind. unsure.gif

Those letters came to my mind too as I was hitting the "add reply" button. whistling.gif
