FFURG Casting Call #58 Rebel Troopers, Extended til Feb. 1 Options

I will be taking over the next Casting Call and thought I should get the thread started on ideas for the #58. Here are some things I was knocking around.

Rebel Troops to include Honor guard, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Hoth soldiers, Endor Soilders. Any style of trooper that has at least been mentioned SOMEWHERE in Star Wars lore.

For a subject that opens alot more to the Fan Fic section I nominate a Joe/Star Wars Crossover.

Let's hear from everyone. It would be nice to get some big participation this time around.

Yeah, I have about 8 WIP Rebel Troopers that have been untouched since May. It would be good to finish them...

I have made at least four honest efforts to find something to do from TotJ, but I can't seem to find a character that interests me enough to make... To me, the whole series was rather mediocre.

The Rebel Soilders idea seems to be catching on. And I hear Corran might actually participate . But if anyone else has any suggestions please feel free to drop a line. Casting Call #58 topic will go up on October 2 the day CC #57 ends.

does rebel soldiers include pilots/technicians/drivers/etc, or just ground combat personel?

We have a Pilots CC already so the Rebel soldiers would not include pilots.

Rebel Soldiers would include (IMO):
- troopers
- commanders (non-jedi)
- ground personnel
- technicians
- honor guards
- off-duty rebels

SpecForces, Pathfinders, Marines are some troopers. Great WotC supplament last month that James already linked too with pictures of each.

There's also the unit's: Wraiths (as an intel/ground unit), Katarn Commandos, Page's Commandos (and who the knows what Page looks like either?), Kap Dendo's rebels, Esclol's Revolutionaries (my name for them), Cracken's procurment teams and the like.

I could "back submit" so much to this, it'd be like participating but not!

That is correct. Rebel Troopers would not include pilots, but everyone else is fair game. With the list of ideas from Del and Pbarny there is a good mix of fan fic and ongoing lore for character ideas.

Casting Call #58 is now open. All Rebel Trooper are up for grabs EXCEPT Pilots since we have done them before. Please submit new figures during this time and submit your older stuff after the CC is closed. This CC will run from Oct.2-Dec4. Gives everyone 2 months to get there done finished.

Bith Rebel Officer

I was inspired by the WOTC Miniture version of this EU figure. It's a cast Cantina Band Member head on a General madine body.

Simple swap custom with a Dodonna and a Antillies figure:

Head - POTF2 Prune Face cast (available for trade without the eyepatch)

Rebel Heavy Trooper

Simply a repaint with a new gun and helmet swap, this TSC figure was perfect for the trooper who carried around the rocket launcher. The gun is made from a Momaw Nadon Rifle and a R2-D2 Jet thing.

Rebel Sniper

The figure used mostly an Amanda Kirby Jurassic Park 3 figure (head, torso, legs) but also used Ewok Leia Arms, a TSC Endor Soldier Helmet, a random Han Vest, a SAGA Endor Soldier Backpack, and an IG-88 rifle.

Rebel Technician
Inspired by Corranhorn's custom HERE, I sculpted a longer-brimmed hat on a Veers head. The rest is, well, untouched.

Using screen captures, I noticed that the shirts worn by the RFTs in the game were grey, not baby blue, so I went that route. They are just about SA, although a little limited due to the paint.

Only part of this figure that I changed from the reference was the type of helmet. The actual character had only the rounder helmet without the back portion or black front section, but I liked this helmet better because it had the chin strap.

Here's something for reference, a recent "Ladies" custom for a Yakfinities Customizing Challenge - she's an early Resistance Fighter, which in my mind is an early Rebel. She's not for this contest of course but I will be coming up with a custom or two for this one, I like the theme a lot.

what chewie mentioned gave me a couple ideas that i've already started on, but, i'd be curious to know if they'd still count~
anyway, i was thinking something along the lines of "early resistance fighters" like, maybe, groups of soldiers still wearing the republic symbols and such? (one i'm almost done is a rebel soldier wearing pieces of clone armor, with things like the rebel alliance and galactic republic symbols on the shoulders and stuff.) would these be acceptable, or should i start scrounging up some parts for a couple fleet troopers?

My original idea was to keep it with the movie,comic and novel troopers and not alot of fan fic, but in order to get more participation for this and future CC's as long as you stay with the theme and a timeline (Rise of the Rebels thru ROTJ) I'll let it go.

In the case of a Casting Call like this, stretching to fan-fic isn't too bad of an idea, but when we go to specific themes where there is a lot of sources such as the previous CC then fan-fic should be restricted. I'd also consider letting people submit old customs to get more people involved, there we could put a cap on how many old customs a person could submit. For example here are several customs I'd like to submit for the CC, they are older customs but some have not been highlighted in the past (I believe) and I intend to make a new custom for this CC...

What we've done up to now is older stuff can be "back submitted" with no limit, but you're the one who has to do the "work" in posting them. New stuff for the debuts, but hey, whatever works. I still think older stuff can be back sumbitted at no limit if one wants to put it up there.

So, here I go with my "older stuff". I'll forgo the pilots except for one, since his is the "trainer".
