Using pastels, has a nice effect of drawing back drybrushed paint.

Did you seal it so the pastel would stay?

That looks excellent! Much better than some of Hasbro's sad attempts. What brand and colors of paint did you use? I tried to do a custom of the guy in front of this picture, even custom made his gun, but my weathering just kept rubbing off. I used a watered down Pollyscale black.

I drybrushed Tamiya Buff for the sand effect and Weathering Master Set B (Snow, Smoke & Rust), there's also sand colors.

For yours you could try Smoke and Rust and see if it shows up like my scout.

If you're going for a vested look, than no. If you want a jacketed look, yes, go black.

you should trim the drop boxes off for a more authentic look.. even though the abplate on those are stormtroopers and not sandtroopers.. lol

Very nice job though! thumbup.gif I'll have to try that weathering technique for mine.

Just curious, where did you get this information? Their abplates look just like the screen capture I posted above. If there is a difference I would be interested in knowing about it.

It's a very subtle difference... you can read about it (and several other subtle, minor differences between Sandtroopers and Stormtroopers) here
