Wow, I thought this was a character that could not be done well and still resemble the original, but you pulled it off! Excellent work!

By web gear you mean belt, you cut the suspenders part off the Cobra Officer one?

Yes I cut them off for the belt. Web gear was just the first thing to come to mind when I was writing it up.

Alot of people try to keep the red chest gear. I thought about painting the pouches red, but felt everything else really pulled the character together.

IT is more like the Nightforce version of Sneakpeak than the original with this color scheme.

It looks good, and I could see Hasbro doing him just this way, however, logically he doesn't make sense to me. For one, black skin-tight armor in the desert is not condusive to survival for more than 20 minutes before he's cooked to a crisp. Not only that, but it seems so odd to have the top half of a character well armored and otherwise he's just wearing pants. It's not well balanced, which is not your fault because Hasbro did it with your base Shipwreck.

Maybe if you paint the armor desert colors he will look a little more sensible? Maybe do the plates in tan with some silver or gunmetal drybrushing and do the flexible non-plated areas in a khaki. It's just a suggestion...

I thought about painting the armor in a desert scheme, but figured since I was making it movie based and that, as you said, Hasbro would probably do it this way this is what I stuck with. Besides, it gave me a chance to practice more on my camo painting.

Yeah, the camo looks nice. It's just the black armor that bugs me.

This is my take on Lifeline. It's a cross between the RAH,Battle Corp and modern day field medics.

Head-Rebel Fleet Trooper
Helmet-Endor Soilder
Vest-Shockwave with Grenades replaced with "medical supplies"
Torso, lower legs, upper arms-Hard Master
Lower arms, upper legs-Wild weasel
Hands-Ace
RAH Lifeline med kit and Unknown ROC backpack
Goggles had to be cut to fit with the helmet

James, this looks really good! I see that you decided to discard idea that Lifeline was supposedly a "pacifist" (given the 2 combat knives, the M1911 and the numerous .45 magazines on his belt). I would have probably done the same. Great mix of parts, too.

BTW, the backpack came from Shipwreck.

The original Lifeline came with a gun so I figured I would continue off of that. The whole pacifist thing just doesn't work for me. I wanted to make sure that the Joes know their field medic can patch a wound as well as make one.

Nice update. Let's see, there's the Young Indy head, Snake Eyes arms legs and legs, and the hardmaster/Snake Eyes/Wraith torso. No clue where the chest box and backpack come from. The only thing I could suggest is some red or silver some place to make more allusion to the 87 figure. I'm not familiar with the Night Force variant, so that is another option as well.

I got in a rush when I posted my stuff tonite and forgot to add the recipes.

Head-Young Indiana Jones
Body-Commando Snakeyes
Lower arm-Cobra officer
Chest box-Oddball
Backpack-Firefly (Blue version)
Antenna- arms of the Treadwell and the dish from Pilot Obi-wan
Headset was Star Wars as well. Can't remember from which character though.

I wanted to add some red as my throw back to the original because that is what I have been doing lately, but wasn't sure where to place it.

I always hated this character. As a matter of fact, I still hate this character. However, your custom figure of him is very nice. In fact, if I didn't hate the character, I'd copy your recipe! LOL

Is the backpack from an Astro Viper? I think they had some swivel-type blasters on their backpack. It looked similar to what you've got going on here. Really, really nice job on this.

Happy customizing!

I really like you modern takes on the Joe characters, very nice blend of homages to the originals and fresh ideas.

The paint apps are, as always very clean and very little in the way of color bleeds.

My only real suggestion would be to provide pics of the backs of the characters as well so we can see what mods/paint apps/etc were done on the flip side (I usually provide 4 way turnarounds myself) as I am sure that both Lifeline and Psyche-Out have some cool stuff going on with their backpacks that I wouild like to see.

Thanks Spectre. I usually don't have too much going on with the backs of the characters, but will consider the suggestion. Psyche-out backpack is removeable so not too much there.

Psych-outs backpack came from the blue Firefly (version 17 according to yojoe.com) The pack has two flaps. I removed the removable items that come in the pack, drilled holes to slide in the arms from the treadwell figure. I cut off the treadwell arm accessories and added the dish. the arms are still poseable at the joint.
