Hey got another question, maybe I'll have better luck with this. Have a Y wing whose one rear landing strut keeps giving out. If I take it apart is there a way to tighten it up or is it just one of those things you have to live with? Hate to unscrew everything for nothing.

I don't think anyone has found a way to fix the Y-Wing landing gear - all of the Hasbro Y-Wings have the same problem. They just used cheaper plastics which can't hold the weight like the vintage fighter.

Front gear:
Part of the problem is that the landing gear, as I recall, is like a "y" shape where it attaches. The plastic deforms over time, causing the "y" to spread, losing it's strength. The only way I found to correct it is rubber bands and/or GI Joe O-rings.

Rear gear:
These, if I recall, are on a geared system. If the straight "toothed plate" on the gear slips, it won't hold well in the down position.

I may be able to take some pictures of one of my hulk Y-wings, if the gear are intact, so you can see what I'm talking about. If the ship is vintage, be extremely careful since the original engine sticker crosses both halves of the ship. You'd need to steam it off at least one half to get the pieces apart without destroying the sticker.

Any help or pics would be apprectiated Thanks. This particular Y wing is the new one not the vintage one. Displayed nice for a while the one day the right rear strut just decided to give out.

It's been 3 years since I took apart a Y-Wing. I remember trying to jam things in there to try and catch on that plat Ash was talking about. Nothing seemed really to work.
