joka, good to see ya aboard here at the FForums.

I hadn't really thought about that, but it sounds like an interesting idea. If we get enough interest (i.e. people responding positively to this thread tongue.gif) we can make a card section. Otherwise I would guess packaging could remain in the appropiate scale section.

If you're interested in custom card/packaging sections for the FForums like joka is, let us know

Happy Customizing!

I agree that there should be a custom card section, but I also think (for viewing purposes) that the image sizes be limited to something that can be seen on most resolutions and still have a good amount of detail. What we want to prevent is someone posting a huge image that is bigger than 1024 rez wide.

This image is 300 pixels wide with 72 dpi. Lowering the resolution will only help out those that want look at the images, but have slower connections. It only takes a few seconds to change your image to be web-worthy. Is this a good standard? Also for image hosting for your images (if you don't currently have a server to link from) go to the Image Hosting Thread

.

Also if you want to do something similar I centered the image with some text effects that are avalible.

Interesting, Photobucket seems to be down for some reason. It just shows a text for in place of the image in that case. Oh well, maybe not the most reliable then, but I've been using it for weeks now and this is the first downtime.

Didn't we have problems with customs cards in the past winding up on Ebay? dry.gif Have we thought about any way to fix that?

There are ways to regulate who's downloading them, but really no way to prevent someone from being pure evil. I think we're still best off to provide blanks for those that want to customize the cards, but pre-made cards are too tempting to those that want to make a quick buck on eBay. There's only one in a crowd of a thousand, but he/she usually annoys us and gives us a bad name by doing that.

funny you should mention that because i'm one of the people that was up in arms about my custom cards ending up on ebay. maybe i should have explained my post a little better. i was basically asking if you were going to open a section for custom card discussions, such as who uses what fonts, where can you find template images, logos, etc., anyone that had ideas for "new" cards, and so on and so forth. i wasn't really saying that you should have a spot for people to come in and steal others works for ebay check out other people's cards. you could always just leave it up to the creators to upload (or link) to an image that is the size/quality of their choosing. i usually only put up smaller, low res pics of my custom cards online anymore just for that reason.

If we got sidetracked you put us on the rails. I think that's a great idea for the site. The fonts, etc, are good examples of how carding people can help each other without contributing to the eBay piracy. I'm still in favor of adding the section.

biggrin.gif Yes! Let's add this section. I've been waiting a while for something like this to come along. I hope this will come to pass.

Well there's been so much talk and requests for it, I've gone ahead and created two Custom Card/Packaging sections.

The first is within the "Your Customs: category and is for displaying your newly designed custom packaging/cards.

The second is within the "Tips & Tricks" category and is for all tips, tricks, and help requests for cards/packaging.

I've moved all the active threads in other sections that correspond to the talk of cards/packaging. The only threads I didn't move where those that involved carding figures or customs onto cards, I think those are ok to stay in the "Your Customs" category.

What do you all think?

Jason,

Thanks for making these 2 sections! You guys are really on the move with this forum. smile.gif So has it been decided yet whether or not the template vault (premade-vintage) will come back as it used to be? I mention this because of the post regarding ebay fraud. Honestly, I hope we can have that section of the vault back. But at the same time I understand the concern. How does anyone else feel?

Meccano-man,

No problem, we're here to help make everyone's custom talking as fun and flexible as they like.

We're looking into the template vault right now and may have some news on it in the near future.

Happy Customizing!

We've said that in the past, but this time it's a reality. I've got about 1/4 of it up already. The way it will work is all areas that are veiwable from FFURG now are going to be open to view through the gallery, but premade sections will require a user account so we can keep an eye on activity and if something runs across ebay and we ban their account and no longer view the premade areas.
