I've sparked an idea..well..rather..I sparked an idea a while ago, it turned into a small burning flame, and I finally discovered it again.

Theres always plenty of Broken Cameras and such on Ebay, with LCD's intact. I figure a trip to radio shack after getting one from ebay, getting a component cable, or something along those lines, and connecting them to a DVD player or Computer.

I figure that I'll use this thread to keep up on my updates..

Any suggestions/ideas..anyone?

Regards

Joe

my favorie thing is when RED paint gets splattered on my x-acto blade.

Why do SO many people not know how to type or use their brain as a spell-check?

Ambitious, I'll give you that. If you pull this off, however, you'd be awesome. You'll have to figure out how to power the screen, making sure to give it whatever constant current it needs so you don't burn it out.

it's possible, but the video processor would have to be intact and you'd have to know how to directly hard wire it. Depending on the make and model that might be a very simple to complex. just remember simply connecting component video to a LCD screen won't accomplish anything without the processor circuit. You best bet is probably a broken LCD DVD player where only the DVD drive is broken, e.g. you get something on the screen like "Disc Error" or something.

I actually saw something like this when I took my son to a model railroad show this past February. One of the diorama builders had used a small b/w television to simulate a drive-in movie screen in his layout. He had all the little cars and the refreshment stand and so forth. I wasn't really actively customizing at the time so it kind of slipped my mind until you mentioned it. I wish I had asked about the power sources and so forth. I'm not sure how much this might help you, but try looking for something along those lines (I've borrowed lots of ideas from model builders over the years). Happy customizing!
