Kadaan, Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side

Kadaan is a failed Jedi Padawan who after the Purge, found himself head of a secret sect of Force users devoted to the Dark Side of the Force. First seen in the children's books and trying to prop up the Triclosus as the heir to the Empire, adducting Ken the Jedi Prince, etc. they were later proven to be false. Kadaan remained hidden, but he is rumored to be a dwarf, dressing is Zeyed cloth robes like the Emperor. My version does not have the star patterns of the children book going for a more adult and less silly appearance. The body is PotJ Emperor Palpatine sawed off sanded the bottom smooth. Hands are painted. The arms are cut off and reglued. This gives more of the primoridal dwarf appearance. The head is a v1 GI Joe Rock n Roll painted. There's drybrushing of purple, white and sealed here.

Hope you enjoy this silly little EU treasure that I'm sure no one has done before. I'd like to do a Jedgar, but coming up with a way to represent a giant, is challenging.

I like the concept of the figure and the character but I think a samller figure such as the POTC dwarf or a child size figure will have better scale although it would require some heavy scuplting or soft goods for the robes.

Would you like a scale figure comparison shot? Plus dwarfs have a variety of heights too. There is sort of a Mutt and Jeff aspect to Jedgar and Kadaan.

The thing that distorts the size is the bulk of the robe around the torso and the height of the hood.

It's the long hands that throw off his proportions. If you look at pictures of people who are born this way, they have small hands and stubby fingers. This figure has large, long hands & fingers. Height wise he looks good to me.

That I'll agree with, but just don't want to chop off the finger tips now. I'll explain it away by using some sort of Sith Alchemy or some other Dark Side tradition lost to all but them modifying his hands.

something about the proportions just seems off....instead of a dwarf, he just looks like a figure cut in half.

for me, its less of an issue with hands as it is the head-size. in your comparison shot, it looks like his head is bigger than the lucas trooper.

maybe pick up Marty from POTC and go from there.

Well first off, maybe you should check the references. The only thing off right now is the hands, and I'll live with it. Kadaan has pictures in Guides to the Galaxy, probably in Wookiepedia, and the Dark Side Sourcebook. If anything, the only thing wrong with the head is the nose isn't broad enough.

Well, 2nd Edition Complete Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy spell it K-A-D-A-A-N. and the Dark Side Sourcebook spells it K-A-D-A-A-N-N. When in doubt, I'll go with the first/older spelling on the source I have before trusting anything online to be the arbitrator.

i think maybe adding some sort of feet, maybe yoda's or marty's, sticking out from under the robe would help it look more like a dwarf then just a fig that had a bad experience with a chainsaw. just a thought. wink.gif

In your comparison photo, there are grey super storm troopers in the background to either side, and on the right is a white version of some type... I am very curious about these figures, and would love more information on both of them.

Paul, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those SOTE Spacetroopers? Did you customize them?

They're EU Darktroopers and Spacetrooper. They came out with the second wave of EU figures in 1998. Check out rebelscum photo archive HERE.

No, these are straight off the card. The only thing that the Spacetroopers are doing is holding some RIT Dyed Star Trek:TNG Type II Phasers that I call explosives in this case.
