Ton Phanan (who's pm really set this one off)

I am so happy I could inspire you Pbarny to do a figure of my namesake. I have some time off coming up so I hope to have my Ton Phanan finished soon. I am still playing with ideas for the Dark Side Casting Call. I am almost finished with Prince Xizor and have revisited Gorm the Dissolver and am using many of the suggestion left by those from my first attempt.

I'm trying to come up with a parts list for my Dark Side custom, as well as working on a second building for my Naboo diorama.

Oh, and I have a spare NeoViper head if you want/need one, as well as those Fast Draw hoses.

Wow, very interesting character. May I suggest using the head from the GI Joe - Hannibal Reborn. Click here

Just a suggestion, stop working on any customs beyond assembling the parts. Work on the homework. It makes no sense to not practice first, and than only work at one at a time. They're designed, I think, to help one skill each time and build upon previous skills making you integrate several things you have done/will do up to that point.

this head looks like it should be perfect, but is this figure a modern one( should i be able to go out and find it at TRU or someplace like that)? the only G.I Joe figures i can at the moment are the sigma 6 things, none of witch are the right size for SW customs

That's because most GI Joe 3.75" scale figures have been online exclusives through Hasbro Toy Shop, the last wave, wave 3, was available also at Toys R Us in the store. Wave 4 wasn't produced due to no sales of waves 2 and 3. 25th Anniversary should start to trickle down soon but they'll be all ball joint heads and sort of a hybrid VOTC/Microman body. I've seen the single cards, but no 5 packs. I know Ash has Hannibal heads available to cast since I supplied the original.

And good, nice to see you go back and re-work things. You were so close on the first one. SO SO close. It's the shoulders. (hint hint)

hasbrshops exclusives are nice for you guys, but, like i've said many times before, i live in canada. unfortunatly, hasbro refuses to ship here, so without a state-side connection, i'm screwed.same deal with target exclusive SW figs pinch.gif

as for the homework customs, i've used a much more durable paint this time, so no more texturizing, and no more scraping away at the joints smile.gif

ebay, my friend. ebay.

I don't believe Hannibal Reborn is available in stores anymore. I think I saw the 3 pack new on either the Joe Armory or GI Joe Toy Box for $10 or $15. That's a good deal! I think both ship to Canada too, ey?

Been practicing swapping lower arms on GI Joes with rivet construction. Not as hard as I thought. Beginning to plan a Jinx unmasked utilizing this technique. Reworking an earlier comic pack Duke. Did some sled dogs for Kwinn that involved a little bit of dry brushing. May totally rework because they look really wild. Still working on Elsar. Debating on how to modify some Chewbacca bodies to make a Drall or two (the torso is perfect proportion, it's the reverse/quadrapedal knee joints and head throwing me off right now).

I've gotten away from Star Wars customizing and leaning more towards Joes. It's so much easier to change their parts. I did however pick up a Tosche Station Biggs Darklighter for fodder. I'm going to rehash my ROTJ Han Solo. I don't know what legs I am going to use yet.

I will be doing some work on a couple of 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes figures in the very near future.

I also hope to get a Dremel at the end of this month which will launch my customs possibilities into overdrive.

Gonna get some green stuff and learn to sculpt.

Finally I still have my 2 Darth Simmons figures in the works and if my parts ever come in from the Joe Armory maybe I can get them done sometime before Christmas.

Dude, Don't discourage him, ok. Im sure simmons will have to get used to it, but sculpting gets easier with practice.

i'm not trying to discorage him, it's just that i've seen many people, including myself, who start sculpting thinking that they can go and just sculpt amazing looking heads/bodies etc. i'm just warning him not to get too overconfident. sculpting takes alot of practice. smile.gif

Don't worry, I'm not discouraged. My main plan is to make some working holsters and knife sheaths. These aren't nearly as difficult as heads. Regardless, I know it will take practice and lots of it before I am a competent sculptor. I play bass and I have to practice more than your average player to be any good. I'm sure it will take that kind of practice for me to get good at sculpting. I'm not charging in thinking "Oh I can do this. It's nothing". I'm prepared to go through the learning curve.

It's just one more thing to learn in my quest for world domination! devil.gif

By the way Smarty, I like the head you're submitting over at GTG. Good job.

Waking up an old topic. Sometimes it's good to write down what you are working on so as to not lose focus on a project.

On the work bench:
Lord Maleval- Legacy Sith Lord

Working on but have parts issues:
Joker Squad-Legacy comic
Made some molds of the heads I want to use since I only had one of each head but cast did not turn out. wallbash.gif

Need to get off my rear end and finish:
Female Imperial Knight

enviorama piece
rogue shadow clone/ L
