First, what are you using to cut it? Second how thick is it?

Easiest thing for working with a material like that is to first score the material, and than snap if it is thin. The thicker it gets you have to use some sort of blade but may find that multiple teeth/serated would work better than a smooth blade.

Im using my dads utility knife, and its about 1/4 inch thick but it never come out clean when I cut. I may try one of my dads smaller hand saws and see if that works, thanks for the tip Paul

It's counterintuitive. I don't know why it's that way but it is.

You need to change knife blades often. Foamcore usually only gets a few cuts before dulling the blade. Also, cut in multiple passes, probably 3 to 4.

The right dremel attachments and you'll buzz on through foamcore... That's my best advice honestly. Knives I've had little luck with. I've used some fine hacksaw blades, but they're a little tough to work with. A good cutting tip and depth attachment on a Dremel though can do the trick.

I tend not to work with foamcore because it's so annoying and messy though... I've had horrible experiences making dinosaur dioramas for the kids with this stuff. laugh.gif

We use foamcore every day at work for making mold boxes. We just use an exacto knife and make a couple passes over it. It usually cuts pretty clean if you have a fresh blade. Holding the foamcore down with a large ruller to cut along also helps.
