Why do SO many people not know how to type or use their brain as a spell-check?

I've been stockpiling stuff for Endor trees. I can't imagine Kaskyyyk would be much different. I've been saving 3" diameter cardboard tubes from large rolls of paper (from the plotters at work thumbup.gif). I plan to connect them together and sculpt over the top of them, possibly with plaster.

Hi

You could use real tree branches cut them down to size and then use smaller branches as of shoots all you need to do is drill holes and then insert the smaller branches. I use alot of woodland scenics stuff for my military models as it's very life like here is a pic of my one of my dio's using there products.

Or you could just buy some plastic plants/trees at the dollar store (or local plant shop).

4x4 or several boards glued up, cut/lathe into some sort of circular shape (good thing it doesn't need to be perfect), distress, glue on bark, drill holes to hold other loose twigs, etc.

Just an idea.

Ron,

You can post your military items in our general customs area I think. That'd be fine.

I'm moving this thread overall to the "Dioramas Tips & Tricks" area. Much more helpful there.

For my $.02, I would suggest keeping an eye peeled at the X-Mas aisle of your local store because they make some really nice items. I got some great snow-covered "pine" type trees for a Battle of the Bulge shelf I will have for my 1:18 military figures.

Unfortunately though, for Kashyyyk, their flora/fauna seem really alien/unique so that's rough to just buy right off the shelf.

Model rail-roading though may be an answer... You can buy armateur thingies that are tree bases. Basically just wire and stuff, but youb end them to suit your "tree" needs. There's foliage stuff (lichens) you put in the wire "branches" to simulate leaves. There's varying scales and some are pretty near 1:18-ish (Star Wars size).

In the most recent "Star Wars Insider" on pgs 28-33 there is an article on "The Models of Revenge of the Sith" by Frank Parisi talking specifically about the Kashyyk tree shown in the movie. In short, they used foam rings on a metal armature, then used clay(painted of course) & special details (real teak& cut metal for the "platforms") to finish it off. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the same elements to do your tree...
FYI, from experience- wood is *heavy* and trying to build a "tree" from real wood & bark will often break off branches under it's own weight....as I found out years ago.
Hope this helps some-
Mike

Well it wouldn't take much to improvise niennunbuniverse.com Endor trees to make a Kashyyyk tree.
