Hey Guys,

The X-Treme Detail line of military action figures put out some playsets a while back... Their extreme cost kept them from being hot movers, but the majority of them are gone from TRU shelves as they were clearanced for really good prices over time...

For the unaware there's a bombed French Farm house, European Styled Barn (bombed also), and a bombed "city building" as well.

But the one stinker of the lot that REALLY set (the first 2 were pretty hot sellers even not on clearance, and the third one was steady moving after initial clearance) was the City Fountain.

In Europe you've probably seen pictures of these fountains that dot cities everywhere... From Paris to Berlin to Moscow... They are pretty iconic settings from WW2 photos. Anyway, XD made one for $30 that didn't sell, then saw $20 and didn't sell, and NOW it's $10.

It is tagged $20 but don't be fooled, it's $10... A LOT of this green-ticket stuff is 50% off what it's ticketed it seems, so if you want one of these fountains, now is the time. They come with a German Infantry figure (with removable helmet and generic head with lame haircut), so there's a $5 figure right there for you customizers... Hell, send me the figure even if you didn't want it! smile.gif

But seriously, the fountain's very "Naboo"-ish if you're thinking of a setting for it. It has a statue of an angel defeating a "demon" with a spear... Typical gothic artwork of thse old fountains. It has lion heads as the spouts at the bottom, a nice paintjob, EXCELLENT sculpting... I mean, the sculpting from XD makes Hasbro stuff look like... Uh... Toys I guess, but XD's toys too, they just show that toys can look real as well.

Anyway, for $10 you get a figure and a HUGE fountain. Can't go wrong draping some battledroids around it, or making it a fountain in a distant world's city or some such. It's a nice set piece, but bare in mind the base's size is pretty much the inside diameter of the box you're buying exactly. In short, IT'S BIG!

No, actually this is part of 21st Century Toys' line, who had the contract with Toys R Us before BBI did, but pressure from groups on TRU not to sell WW2 German figures/items got TRU to request no more from 21st and it nullified their contract.

BBI then came in and signed on to make 1:18 military figures, but they do modern only.

21st acts independantly now, but some of their stuff is floating around TRU's still waiting for better clearances, or to be clearanced for the first time. The fountain namely. They sell through WM now and other distributors to get out their new product though now.

In anycase, I know you can order both XD and Elite Force from www.smalljoes.com. There might be a few others out there too.

This is my first post. I was at Toys R Us yesterday and eyed up the same fountain as a great diorama peice. I think I may go back today to purchase it now. It's funny how people think alike. Thanks-John cool.gif

Are you guys finding it still with the Elite Force/GI Joe area or is it somewhere else in TRU? I haven't seen any at my TRU but maybe I'm looking in the wrong area. If I am, then I need to go on a TRU hunt at the other 4 TRUs within 45 minutes of here.

I don't see many at ANY TRU's but the one. They had an overabundance of them perhaps. They were on a set of clearance shelves that've been up since LONG before this green tag sale. Stuff like clearanced Spy Kids figures are with it, I think some Shrek garbage.

Anyway, I've hopped in maybe 4 TRU's since finding this, and none of the others have a single clearanced XD item in them, or BBI Elite Force stuff... Kinda bummed about that because I'm reading others finding stuff that's much cooler that I guess was lost in back rooms and junk. sad.gif

Keep searching, but if my area's an indicator there's NOT a lot of these out there, and most TRU's don't have them. Some stuff you gotta scan I've heard though, to see the discount, as it's not tagged as such.

I did indeed buy one yesterday. Our Toys R Us have them on the back wall next to the GI Joe display. I paid $10.52 w/tax for mine. They had several, if anyone really needs one let me know. I don't kow how much shipping would be to make it worth it it or not.

I found 3 of these at my TRU, after some digging through the Kids R Us clearance area! clapping.gif I picked up one for 9.99 clearance. If anyone else wants one, let me know. They're actually pretty kewl and very Naboo-like.

I've already used the top for my latest diorama. Probably use the fountain in some shape or form for another CW scene.
