Detention Block

Mos Isely Cantina

Jabba's Throne Room

All models and plans were derived from SW Gamer magazine that ran initially when Wizards of the Coast first got the rights to the role playing game.

pbarny,

Those are some great looking dioramas you have there, you can definitely see the time and effort you put into designing them. The work on the Death Star is coming along just nicely, I see you are looking to make it modular which while looking very neat, wouldn't that become heavy and require a lot of support?

The Cantina is impressive in scale and has the nice used feeling of the SW universe, though I'd suggest if possible doing something with the floor to get around the wood look to it, perhaps stickers of tiling that's all worn out (even with blood and drink stains). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find your Harry Caray homage sad.gif

Jabba's palace as well is impressive in scale and accuracy, have you completed it or is still a WIP? Will you be making covers of any kinda for the exposed areas?

Overall great stuff, hope to see more in the future, happy customizing!

The heaviest part of the Death Star is the actual Detention Block. If it is put on a shelf that is hung properly anchored to wall studs, in the middle or in a cabinet of some kind, it works fine.

the Cantina was sort of my trial and error. It isn't exactly Mos Isely, but we all know how that goes. You have to hold your mouse over a variety of pictures, and it could be, it might me, Holy Cow, a Home Run.... tongue.gif Long term plans are to buy some table legs (no lathe and no confidence in turning) and plexiglass and encase the cantina as sort of coffee perhabes even dining table for my next apartment.

Jabba's is a WIP with an indefinite hold. Time, money, the fact I go to school 2.5 hours away from the table saw (which sped up everything 10x imo). I'm looking into some cloth. I always mean to, but than never seem to get the time to go fabric shopping.

And with all things, I hope to some day make them into cabinets/shelves of a complete scene (outside of the cantina which will become a table).

I'll post some dimensions when I can find/unpack my project notebook.

Roughly I think the Cantina is about 5.5 feet by 3.5 feet, Jabba's Palace is about 4x3 feet, and the "detention foyer" is 1.5 by 1 feet.

All walls are about 6" high.

I like the Jabba's Place the best.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get some new pics up because I've added the Jabba's Palace figs from this year as well as a BoShek and Zutton to my cantina.

Very nice stuff.

I like the way you played out the "scenes" in your Death Star pictures. What fun is a cool diorama if you're not gonna play with it?

The Cantina/Table idea is great. Go for it, how much fun would that be to have in the dining room?

Not very. At best it would work as a coffee/end table. The Walls would overhang too far for a standard dining table rail. Raise it too far, and the table top is on your chin and it can't be used for dining.

I've actually thought of the same thing, making a Cantina coffee table. Let me know how it turns out because I'm at least 2 years away from that project!

Put some new pics of the Jabba's palace specifically. Most of them are the new figs that came out late last year/early this year.

Shameless bump here. Finally got a Bib Fortuna and a single Gamorrean Guard for my Jabba's Palace (thanks to JJ for the Bib). dry.gif Big hint there guys, will trade for more Gamorreans ph34r.gif Also moved the Red PotJ Zutton into the Palace as well as the Pimp Aqualish.

http://photobucket.com/albums/v521/pbarny/...Jabba%20Palace/

Also, now that I've kit bashed the K-Mart packs and the Cantina Showdown figures as well as Wuher, I have put up new pics of the Showdown as well as reshot the cantina alcove with a Blue Zutton. You can see a new Bar pic with the Cantina Dude custom and Kitkek bug. Also, check out Fat Vander dealing with Dash Rendar.

http://photobucket.com/albums/v521/pbarny/Cantina/

Finally, I got pics of my GI Joe collection up finally (after cleaing up the HQ and the Terrordrome). Would've put out more vehicles, but after putting up the things I've gotten from yard sales and e-bay (only) I found out there aren't enough people to crew all the vehicles (yes, all my figs are out except for a few Cobras from 87...the really odd ball year).

ps, like the floor there? I spent close to a month reclimating that one spring.

cool setup with the terrordrome and joe hq. though im not overly fond of some of those newer cobra figures, they look too bulky next to their 80's counterparts. but the pics did bring back some great memories of setting up my Tactical Battle Platofrm in a similar way always having the joes prepared for the next cobra assault. ahh good times, good times....

Added some new things (as well as moved "finished" pictures") to a new place. All pics were taken with my cell camera. I can't get my notebook to talk to my 6 year old 1.3 Mpixel camera.

Finally got a Sy Sootles and Yoh Yowzah in a trade this year, so the Rebo Band is "finished" as well as putting in my RIT dyed Ishi Tib, Gamorrean Guards etc.

Thanks, if I ever get the time and resources (read good paying job after school with ample vacation time) I plan on redoing it with things I learned when making cabinets a few months later...as well as having uniform building matierials the second time rolleyes.gif

Anyways, I also have a detailed movie file (it's playable in quicktime but it's again from the cell phone) of jabba's palce, but I need a place that would allow me to host it, have the bandwidth etc. So if anyone knows or is willing, lmk!!!

Alright, here's the infamous cell phone movie of my Jabba's Palace display. You will need quick time (or at something that can do the not quite mpeg formart). I'm not a techie, so if the movie doesn't display I don't know what to do.
